Now that another school year is coming to an end, we want to thank all our participating schools, teachers, and students for taking part in BrainReach North.
 
This was a big year for BrainReach North! Here are the highlights of what we accomplished this year:

• Tripled the number of outreach trips we went on from last year! We visited our first schools in the Cree and Kativik School Boards, including our farthest north trip when Sebastien visited Kuujjuarapik last month
• Set up our first recurring teaching trips to the Nook Homeschoolers’ Centre
• Welcomed over a dozen new volunteers to the BrainReach North team
• Released two new English-language videos: Brain Size and Cow Brain Dissection
• Our Twitter and Instagram pages are up and running, so now there are even more ways to keep up with BrainReach North and the latest in neuroscience news

We’re grateful to our friends and partners at Youth Fusion and the McGill chapter of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society, who helped make our trips happen and improve the BrainReach North program. We owe the biggest thank-you to all of our hardworking, generous, and creative volunteers.
We’ll keep at it all summer to have even more new neuroscience resources ready for you in the fall! Now is a great time to get in touch if you would like to arrange a teaching visit for the 2018-19 school year.

It has been an exciting year for BrainReach North! We have been developing lots of new teaching materials, forging collaborations with school boards, and reaching out to northern communities for opportunities to bring hands-on neuroscience lessons to their schools.  

A lot of planning and preparation over the past year culminated in two successful outreach trips done this May; the first trip was to Kuujjuarapik, and the second to Mistissini and Waswanipi. We are grateful to our contacts in these communities for welcoming us warmly and making these trips possible!
